It took an overtime win over Iowa State for Texas to make their first finals appearance since 2018. The Lady Bears were making their tenth straight appearance in the Big 12 Championship game, winning nine of the last ten. The Longhorns captured the 2022 Big 12 Tournament title with a 67-58 win. When the confetti settled on the Municipal Auditorium court, Baylor could not beat Texas for the third time this season. Round three of Baylor and Texas had great highlights and performances that you only get in March. Some might even say this game had an old-school SWAC feeling to it. He amassed a 181-13 career prep record, becoming the fourth winningest wrestler in Virginia high school history. A native of Chesapeake, Va., and a 2000 Great Bridge High School graduate, Sioredas was a Virginia state champion, prep All-American and national champion. He graduated from UTC in 2005 with a degree in sociology and anthropology and earned his master's degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, in 2009. Sioredas earned his All-American award while wrestling for Tennessee-Chattanooga. Bernie Truax has earned fourth-place finishes three straight years and Wick finished third at 165 a year ago. Tom Lane was named an All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association after the 2020 NCAAs were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sioredas has coached the Mustangs to back-to-back winning dual meet seasons and has produced an NCAA All-American four consecutive years.
